Summers are chilly. You may see days where it is in the 70's but even when it is 70 it feels cold. I just started my first winter here and so far 10 degrees has been the average with 2 inches of snow but I have been told it gets worse.

But they are in Anchorage, 4 hrs away but a lot of people make the trip often

They have 5 housing buildings. 4 buildings have 4 units, which are 3BR 1½ baths. 1 building has 2 units, which are 4BR and 2 full baths, maybe 2½ baths. 2 car garage, but you share. There is a playground which is very nice and a fire pit. There is ½ a shed in the back and a full parking lot at the end where you can park trailers ,rv's or boats.
Shopping~
A lot of little shops, ulmers (where you can get most stuff but kind of pricey), Safeway which has a starbucks in it and a awesome deli, Napa, save u more (which is a bulk food store), radio shack, a book store , thrift store, a Fred Meyers (but you have to drive to Soldotna 1hr½ away) and a super Wal-Mart (will be opening this summer in Kenai city 10 miles past Soldotna)
Child Care/Schools~
My daughter is going to homer head start right now and we are having some problems I would not say I wouldn't send your child there but I'm not going to say I love it. But here are the other schools in the area.

Well you have to be an out doors person to really have a good time here. Fishing, hiking, horseback riding, 4-wheelin, hunting , shooting range, ice rink ,bowling, small movie theater, night life.
Additional Info~
So far I like it. The Hickory is an awesome boat with a great command and the Roanoke Island seems to be a nice boat as well. As long as you make the best of what you have you will have a great time. the wives have monthly get together and there is always something going on you just might have to look for it.
