Child Care/Schools~
Elementary and Middle School - I would recommend Old Shell Road Magnet School and Dunbar (http://dunbar.mcm.schoolinsites.com/). These are performing and visual arts schools that are a split off of the Mobile County Public School System.

In order to get your kids in these type of schools along with Council traditional magnet (http://council.mcen.schoolinsites.com/) (for elementary), and Clark Middle School of Math and Science (http://clark.mcm.schoolinsites.com/), you have to sign them up early in January or February to get them in a lottery drawing due these schools' popularity. Be sure to read the Press Register, our local paper to get the times and dates of when and where to enroll your child.

They do not charge you a monthly fee since they are not private schools. They do expect your child to a high C or above average to stay in them.

Fun Activities~
For activities, Dauphin Island has a annual fishing rodeo sometime in June or July and we also have the Gulf Coast Shrimp festival late in September.

Or if you are into minor league baseball, the Mobile Baybears (http://www.mobilebaybears.com/home.asp) are fun to watch too. My dh's CG Group Mobile has gone together and booked a place to picnic on their field and have a cookout for a special group price of $6 each.

We also just got the Carnival cruise ship, the Holiday that ports here every other week. We just got it this month. It has booked up all their dates up to February or March!
