Station/Boat Location~
Tracen Petaluma

Date there~
2005-present

Weather~
We have had days this Summer that were 80-90's, but it is chilly every night. The sea breeze pretty much affects us everyday. But it was a pretty comfortable Summer.

Military facilities~
There is a small exchange and mini mart on base. A large PX at Travis AFB about 1 hour away.

Medical~
We use Tricare Prime and our doctor is about a 25 minute drive because we are in the middle of cow country! There is dental and medical facility on base for Active Duty members.

Housing~
There is a lot of housing on base. No A/C, no carpet except for on stairs, small back yards. But it seems very safe on base and there are a couple of nice parks for the kids.

Shopping~
We are in the middle of cow country so shopping, even grocery shopping, is a good 20 minute drive. But once you're there, you'll find everything. Target, Walmart, Safeway, Albertsons, Kmart, lots of restaurants, movie theatres, and a nice mall within 35 minutes.

Adult Schools~
The Santa Rosa Junior College is a good option. The Petaluma campus is even better, it's only about a 15-20 minute drive.

Fun Activities~
There's a movie theatre, bowling alley on base. Six Flags marine world about 45 minutes away, miniature golfing and chuck e. cheese about 20 minutes.

Additional Info~
The worst part about living here is that it is so far from town. I guess I'm a city girl. It is close to the beach, but it's a California beach so it's chilly and the water is cold.
