Hot all the dern time! Still got the air on mid October! God, please take me back to where there are seasons.

Military facilities~
Patrick Air Force Base w/ Commissary, decent Exchange and mini-mall, gas station, Burger King on base.

Medical~
Clinic on base-no weekend or emergency services; Cape Canaveral Hosp.-20 min.; Holmes Regional Medical Center-20 min.; Wuestoff Medical Center-20 min.

Housing~
North/Central Housing located on PAFB. South Housing off base-privatized Oct. 1, 2003. All units have 1 car garages, nice lawns-if you take care of it, plenty of parks for the kids, good security, maintenance, etc.

Shopping~
6...that's right...6 Wally Worlds all within 20 minutes!! Melbourne Mall; Merritt Square Mall; Orlando Mall at Mellinia(big bucks); Florida Mall; Sam's Club; Outlets of St. Augustine-huge; Flea Markets, etc.

Child Care/Schools~
PAFB Child Development Center-Excellent facility!; Other area daycare centers. As far as the schools go, we have only needed daycare here, but our old neighbors used the middle and elementary school and they were very pleased with the education system in place. Both schools are within walking/biking distance.

Adult Schools~
FSU; FMU; BCC; Fairvilla-just kidding!

Fun Activities~
Orlando: Disney World-40 min; SeaWorld-40 min.; Busch Gardens/Tampa; 2 1/2 hrs.; Gatorland-1 hr.; Daytona Int. Speedway-1 hr.; Brevard Zoo-20 min.; Sanford Zoo-not sure how far; Swimming w/ Manatees-too cool but haven't done it yet; Cocoa Beach; Kennedy Space Center; Andretti Speed Park-go carts; Air Boat Rides; Casino Cruises; Disney Cruise ship and others at Port Canaveral; lots of other attractions.

Additional Info~
We've been here 2 years and I can tell you it gets VERY hot around August. We run our heat very little in the winter-did we have a winter?!
There are quite a few 'crochety' people here, but it depends on where you live as to just how many you encounter every day. Beating them to the Commissary is a real challenge. If you're too late, well...
Area grocers are higher than the commissary. Some things you can’t find at the commissary but there are several stores near by where you can find those things.
