Station/Boat Location~
CGC Diamondback (87')

Date there~
2015 to present

Weather~
Hot and humid! Sunny and bright. The summer temp gets up to around 95-100 daily with a daily rain shower in the late afternoons. In the fall it cools off into the 80's and the rain stops coming every day.

Military facilities~
A small exchange in Fort Myers, that's about it.

Medical~
Everyone here is on Tricare Prime.

Housing~
No military housing. Everyone here is on the economy. The rental market is pretty saturated and it can be tough to find a place so plan ahead if you are coming down to rent. Work with a local real estate agency, they all have long term rental departments here.

Shopping~
Lots of people stationed here live in Cape Coral and the Cape has lots of shopping itself: Target, Walmart, etc… lots of restaurants. There are outlet malls, malls, you name it it is either here or in Fort Myers.

Fun Activities~
DUH !!!! The beach !! Bars, parks, swim parks and it goes on and on.

Child Care/Schools~
Lots of child care possibilities. The schools are on a lottery system so you have to call and speak with the Lee County Student Assignment Office to get the ball rolling as your child will not necessarily go to the school nearest your home.

Adult Schools~
Several local colleges and college branches.

Fun Activities~
lots of bars, restaurants and places along Fort Myers Beach. There is still a splash park in Cape Coral. beaches and State parks.

Additional Info~
Orlando is about 3 hours away for Disney. Lego Land is also a big hit. There is also a ferry that can get you to The Keys. it's also fun to get in the car and drive down through the Everglades. Myakka State park is great way to spend the day. The airport in Fort Myers is now a nice International Airport that is quite accessible and has many airlines for flights in and out of SW Florida.
