Station/Boat Location~
MSO Honolulu

Date there~
2002-2006

Weather~
Wonderful! 80-90 degrees year round.
Rains almost everyday for about an hour...just enough to keep it nice! Trade winds keep the heat from getting to you. We do not have an a/c and we get along fine!

Military facilities~
NEX Pearl Harbor is HUGE! It is not located on base, but right off of H1. Very conveniently located, no matter what part of the island you live.
USCG base on Sand Island has a small exchange. Cheap gas there too, if you are stationed nearby. It is about 10 minutes from the MSO.

Medical~
Pink building on the hill - Tripler hospital. Lots of doctors for everything you need. Pretty easy to get an appointment. Never have to wait too long.

Housing~
Red Hill...there are some old units and some new. The new ones are pretty nice. They have a screened in lanai (porch) & central air. Tile floors throughout. The older ones are in the process of being renovated...thank goodness. They need it!
If you are stationed at Barber's Point (air station), there is a housing complex about 5 minutes away. It has been taken over by a private owner, but they totally remodeled the old housing. They are pretty nice too. Large sizes, mostly 2 story units. Central a/c & tile floors, with a new coat of paint!

Shopping~
Lots of it! There are all the most common stores like Walmart, K-Mart, Sams, & Costco. Lots of malls everywhere!
As for groceries, the best place is to go to the commissary if you don't want to spend $7 on a gallon of milk!

Adult Schools~
University of Hawaii (Manoa)

Fun Activities~
SCUBA, snorkel, hike, kyack, swim, go to the beautiful beaches, shop, horseback riding, learn how to hula dance
