Very very warm in the summer, and very cold in the winter!
Military facilities~
There is a group in the mall, but there are rumors of it leaving??
Medical~
There is the Keokuk Area Hospital, several Dr. offices of all kinds, and about 2 hours from the University hospital!
Housing~
No base housing but there are lots of homes and apartments to rent! Cheap rent here!! I grew up in this town and met my DH here... my house payment was $300.00 and i had a nice home in a very nice neighborhood!! Good place to save money on BAH!
Shopping~
Not to much shopping here. There is a Super Walmart, couple grocery stores, a small mall(home town shopping), there is a huge mall about 1 1/2 hours away - straight interstate! Lots of fast food and good home cooking.. (you just have to know where to go) ask around!! The Hawkeye is good, so is The Cellar, also you must try Angelini's Pizza.. its the best!!!

Fun Activities~
First of all there are no gutter rats in Keokuk... you make what you want to out of places.. if you have a bad outlook, it will be bad! You are right on the lock and damn 19 where there are some of the most beautiful eagles you have ever seen! Civil war renactment! And if you are a boater, this is the prime place for boating! There is a bowling alley.. only been there a couple times :) Quincy IL is only about 1/2 hour away and there is tons of stuff to do there! Iowa City is about 1 1/2 hours away.. lots to do there, and lets see.. its hard to think of it when you are from there!! There are bars.. if you are into the bar scene... good down to earth home bars... nothing like you will find in a big city, more like Cheers...! Nice big parks also The Keokuk Yacht Club to keep your boat. Like i said i met my DH here and I had lots and lots of coastie friends beings i have been here my whole life, everyone of them loved this place!!

There is a drug problem, like a read on here, but where is there NOT a drug problem!! If you stay away.. it won't bother you!
