Weather~
Four seasons, Not as bad a winter as you may expect. Maybe one or two good snows, warm summers. Weather is actually very good here. The only problem is in spring and fall on warm days you are over come with LADY BUGS EVERYWHERE! It doesn't sound bad but trust me they bite and stink!!

Medical~
Tricare prime remote- hit and miss on whether it is a good or bad experience
Housing~
No military housing or lease. We live over the line in Michigan in a small town called New Buffalo. Most of the younger couples live in an apartment complex in IN. It is not to bad finding a place however there are some places you definitely would not want to live.
Shopping~
Fair, you have to drive like 45 min to get to a decent mall. We have a very small one and a Meijers and Wal-Mart.
Child Care/Schools~
I would not like to send my kids to Michigan City schools at all! Mine go to a Catholic School in New Buffalo however the public schools here are good to.
Adult Schools~
There are a lot of Junior Colleges near by and Purdue University has a campus close by also.
Fun Activities~
Chicago is about 1 1/2 hours away. There are a lot of small weekend festivals, but nothing to write home about. Truthfully there is not a whole lot of really great stuff to do. Small zoo, libraries, snow skiing a couple hours away, not many good parks for the kids. Not a lot of free stuff which I know all us Military need! We do have a nice beach.
