Weather~
The winters are cold, lots of snow (lots of shoveling). Spring gets a little warmer usually in the 60's or even low 70's. Summer is really nice, not humid and some nights have a cool breeze. Watch out for the mosquitos. Fall is really nice to although it has gotten pretty cold at times.
Military facilities~
Hanscom AFB 30 mins. away and ISC Boston 30 mins. away
Medical~
Hanscom AFB
That is were we go I dont know of any civilian doctors. There is a few dentist in the area that take the dental insurance
Housing~
We live in the Wakefield housing, There are 3 bedrooms and a small bathroom. The living room is a good size and there is a dining area, the kitchen is small. There is a Linen closet and a coat closet, washer & dryer hook-ups and a storage shed outside. There is also a extra room where the water heater is for some storage also. It is a dead end street so not a lot of traffic, and also the yards are a good size. There is not a play ground anymore(there is talk of putting in a new one).
Shopping~
There is a plaza about 10 mins or less away( shaws, kb toys, sport store, clothing stores) There are two malls each about 20- 30 mins away depending on traffic( Burlington and Square One). There is a walmart in north reading. There are a lot of places that are not far from the housing. In Boston you have to go to Feneul Hall that is a neat place( Shopping, food, restaurants).
Child Care/Schools~
I don't know about the child care but the Elementary schools are good. Elementary- Walton, Dolbeare, Greenwood. Middle- Galvin, Stoneham. High school- Wakefield Memorial. That is just some of the few.
Adult Schools~
I don't know about any adult school but I know that there is a few.
Fun Activities~
There are a few parks not far from housing, Ipswich is a good park and rec. area, Salem is really fun lots to see there, Lots of things in Boston. Really depends on what you are interested in but I am sure you will always find what you are looking for.
Additional Info~
The experience here so far has been a good one, but the cold weather is something I could do without. I love the area that we live in, not to far from the city but just far enough.
