Station/Boat Location~Station St. Inigoes
Date there~2006-?
Weather~Winters are mostly mild... From November to March, the lows are usually in the 30's, and highs in the 40's. Spring is usually around 65-70 degrees, and summers in the mid 80's. Fall is in the 60's to 70's...
Military facilities~The station is the Webster Field Annex of Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Most people live in California, MD, or Lexington Park, MD. The main base for Patuxent NAS is in Lexington Park and has medical, commissary, exchange, MWR facilities, etc.
Medical~If you are on Prime, you will see the doctors on base at PAX(Patuxent River NAS). They refer you out for OB visits, and specialists. There is a pediatrician on base, so if your child is on Prime, they will see the pediatrician on base.
Housing~There is on-base housing on PAX, which the Coast Guard uses. There is also off base navy housing. I'm not sure how hard it is to get either one. However, the cost of living in this area is high, and housing may be the best bet.
Shopping~ Because most people live in California or Lexington Park, the shopping is pretty convenient. We have a Walmart, Kmart, Target, plenty of grocery stores. We have a new Old Navy, and Petco, as well as a Best Buy, a Michael's, Lowe's, and a BJ's. There is even a JC Penney and Belk in California. The closest mall is in Waldorf, about 45 minutes away. They have everything else you would need!
Adult Schools~College of Southern Maryland in La Plata, and College of St.Mary's in St. Mary's City MD.
Fun Activities~There's really not too much to do here. The entire town shuts down pretty early, not many bars, and no clubs. There are several places on base at PAX to go fishing, or swimming. The base is beautiful, and has a lot of MWR-type stuff. The station has a softball team, with games every Tuesday and Thursday. They play in the Navy league on base at Pax.
Additional Info~The area up here is beautiful! It's indescribable, unless you have lived in the area. There are several bodies of water around. The station is on the St. Mary's River, which empties into the Potomac. The station is called the "Guardians of the Potomac". They also do a lot of patrols in the Patuxent River, which borders the base. There are several nice beaches on base on the river too. The station is pretty small, with a neighboring ANT team on the same property, so the information for the ANT team is the same.
