Not much of spring, very muddy, beautiful summer and fall and very cold and snowy winters

Military facilities~
Brunswick Naval Air Station has an exchange, commissary, dry cleaners, vets office

Medical~
Either Martins Point or Bowdoin Medical Group, dental is Dr Andrews in town. Eye doctors in town with a referral or in Brunswick approx 40 min away. There are 2 hospitals within 17 miles. St Andrews Hospital located in Boothbay Harbor and Miles Memorial Hospital in Damiarscotta (17 mile commute) Both are small, but for minor illnesses, they are fine. Miles does have a small ICU and if you are expecting, great place to deliver and good OB/peds doctors.

Housing~
There is a duplex at the top of hill from the station. No govt lease available, a few rental houses, and apartments in town.

Shopping~
Unique stores in town, most of which close in the winter, but in Brunswick there is Wal Mart, Target, Best Buy, Pet Stores, Dicks Sporting Goods, Old Navy, Lowes, Bath and Body Works, LL Bean is approx 1 hr away, they are open 24hrs/day, outlet stores nearby. Cabelas is in Scarborough (approx 1 hr 15 min) and the mall is in Portland (which is about 1 hr 15 min), old port is great in Portland. The state capital is Augusta (approx 1 hr drive), they have a Sams Club and much of the same as Brunswick. Lots of outlet shopping in Kittery and also New Hampshire (tax free)

Child Care/Schools~
Elementary, Middle and High School very small, High school has about 240 kids. YMCA has child care

Adult Schools~
Collge campuses in Brunswick, Portland and Augusta

Fun Activities~
If you like the outdoors there is a ton of stuff to do. Fishing, sailing, relaxing on a beautiful beach (Popham Beach in Phippsburg), Camping in the mountains of NH or in northern Maine, hiking Katahdin Mtn, exploring Mt Desert Island, ATV riding in the summer, beautiful day trips in the fall to see the colors change, Nascar racing within 3 hrs in Concord NH, skiing within 2 hrs, snowtubing, ice fishing, snow shoeing in the winter.

Additional Info~
This is a beautiful place to be stationed, we are going to miss it. The people are great, we have made a lot of friends. YMCA is one of the best things here for families, they have a lot of activities geared toward kids. They have a skate park, day trips skiing in the winter, lots of exercise classes, great equipment If you love the quiet life and enjoy feeling the sea breeze in your hair and the taste of fresh lobsters right off of the boat as you eat on the decks of the local restaurants, this is the place for you. Very safe place to raise a family. 1 grocery store, pharmacy and a movie theater.
