Weather~
Spring and summer are short but the fall makes it all worth it. The leaves are beautiful! It does snow so if you have a husband that leaves on patrol during the winter you'll be putting on the snow boots and shoveling that stuff on your own...!
Military facilities~
The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is where the Reliance is docked. New Castle NH is a few miles away where there is a CG station.
Medical~
There is a Naval Clinic there. You are referred for OB. I went to the York ME Hospital when I was pregnant. VERY nice place!
Housing~
Navy Housing for Coasties stationed on the Reliance. Housing is nice. Nothing special on the outside but the insides have all been redone. New appliances, carpet, doors, EVERYTHING! Living on the economy is pricy. But I've heard they've raised BAH since we've been there.
Shopping~
In Kittery you have the outlet mall which is huge! The Kittery Outlets. Portsmouth has the Fox Run Mall, Michaels, Kitchens Ect, things of that nature. Great places to eat are Paneara and The Gas Light Company then you have the classic Outback and Applebees. They just built a brand new Wal-mart there. If you can't find what your looking for in Portsmouth-Boston is just an hour away. Boston MA & Concord NH have the closest Targets.

Red Hook Brewery is located in Portsmouth and you can't miss going to Annabelle's for ice cream!
Water Country is New Englands water park it's located nearby.

When you live in Portsmouth you're close to everything. From Portland ME to Newport RI. My husband and I enjoyed our time there. You can find lots of information about the area at Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce
