Weather~
Summers are mild and the winters are cold. Watertown is the norther part of the snow belt and Alex Bay is north of that so the amount of snow is considerably less.
Military facilities~
Ft Drum Army Base is in Calcium - about 20 minutes away - PX AND Commissary are on Base
Medical~
AD and dependrnts have private doctors - no military hospitals for CG in the area. Specialist are at Suny Syracuse, about 1 1/2 hours away
Housing~
lots of private housing and 801 housing, lots on base at FT drum as well, most is very nice and well maintained
Shopping~
Watertown has a fair amount of shopping, Alex Bay itself has only the basics (grocery, dollar general, banks, etc)
Child Care/Schools~
Not sure, from word of mouth schools are good and class size is small
Adult Schools~
Jefferson Community College is about 25 minutes
Fun Activities~
Lots to do outdoors hiking, boating, etc, great area for hunting and fishing, Drive in Movie Theater, Kingston ON is about a 30 minute drive

We absolutely love it up here. I'm a city girl and DH is a FL boy and we both really enjoy it! We live in Clayton, which is about a 15 minute drive from the station and most AD CG reside in the same neighborhood
