Station/Boat Location~
Station Fire Island

Date there~
2001-2004

Weather~
Beautiful summers, cold and sometimes snowy winters. However, if you are like me and really enjoy the four seasons then this is the place for you!

Military facilities~
Mitchell Field--which is about 35-40 minutes from housing

Housing~
There are 13 houses on Rescue Road. Each house has the following:
First floor--eat in kitchen, 1/2 bath, formal dining room, and a laundry room which is a separate room just off the kitchen which also has direct access to the attached one-car garage.
Second Floor--4 bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Crawl space basement. Nicely sized, fenced back yard. The front of the house faces The Great South Bay, and just beyond the backyard there is a road you simply cross over to enjoy a day at the beach and enjoy some of the most beautiful sunsets that I have ever seen.

Shopping~
Just over the bridge (15 minute drive) you have your supermarkets, drugstores etc. However, make sure you don't run out of any necessities during the summer months because the beach traffic can become quite terrible that one could hardly get out of the housing development.
As far as malls are concerned, by far the best one is Roosevelt Field which is about a 40-45 minute drive. It has the hippiest and most upscale stores. There is The Bay Shore Mall which is about 15 minutes away, but leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion.

Adult Schools~
Nassu Community College--40 Minutes. Suffolk Community College 40 Minutes. St. Joseph's College, SUNY Farmingdale, Dowling College, SUNY Stony Brook, etc........Tons of higher education facilities within a 45 minute drive from housing.

Fun Activities~
The beach, Montauk, the vineyards, New York City (about 1hr., 15 min), Nassau Colliseum which has the NY Islanders and many other venues (i.e. concerts), Jones Beach Theatre (more concert, but outdoors), The Hamptons----you could never get bored here.

Additional Info~
I have no complaints about the locations--I was sad to leave.
