Weather~
VERY HOT HOT HOT!!! I was very pregnant during the summer months and that is one thing that everyone that lives here can tell you to NOT do is get pregnant during that time of year. It also has some very mild winters.
Military facilities~
About 1 1/2 hrs drive from Galveston which has a small shopping store but nothing that is too worth the trip. Other than that...none!
Medical~
I go through Tricare down here (there's another alternative) and your options for health care are kind of slim pickin's. Especially when it comes to dental. I was needing to get my wisdom teeth removed and I couldn't get it done locally. I had to go all the way over to Houston to have the procedure done.
Housing~
None!!! And finding a good house here is very hard. When the DH and I got here and were looking there was house that we walked into that I walked out covered in fleas!
Shopping~
Shopping is okay. But Hurricane Rita wiped out a lot and it is still being built back up.
Adult Schools~
I am actually attending Lamar Univ. and I love the campus. It is beautiful and the staff has always been very friendly and helpful. There is also a community college in Orange and Port Arthur.
Fun Activities~
WELL...there is always fishing with your DH. I personally love it cause it allows for some good quality time. Or you can hang out at the beach. Other than that, there's not a whole lot.
