Station/Boat Location~
ANT Kenosha

Date there~
2001 - 2005

Weather~
BEAUTIFUL! Wisconsin has all four seasons (though many will complain about the winter). Summer is always very humid and hot. Winter is freezing and last well into March sometimes early April. You can't beat spring and fall though! You'll need everything from shorts and tanktops to really warm winter coats and snow shovels.

Military facilities~
ANT TEAM Kenosha shares a building with GROUP Kenosha. There are some barracks in the building, but most people live in either Kenosha or Racine (located less than 10 min. drive north of Kenosha). The nearest Commissary/Exchange is a good hour and twenty minute drive south to Great Lakes Navy Base.

Medical~
There are many hospitals in the area. Aurora Health Center has many branches located in numerous areas through out Kenosha County. Milwaukee is only about a 45 minute drive north for any specialty clinics and it has one of the best Children's Hospitals in the country.

Housing~
I would recommend living in Racine or Northside Kenosha. There are not many apartments on the Southside, and if you live "downtown" it gets a bit run-down. Northside there are some reasonably priced apartments, and Racine also has very nice apartments (more with garages there!) If you want to buy a house, look in Racine or Southside Kenosha (anything south of 75th st...the streets will go up in number)
Be prepared for high costs. Kenosha has the second highest prices in the state (after Madison)...but BAH should cover most people.

Shopping~
There are so many malls, you'll be in HEAVEN! Kenosha has some outlets, and in south Racine is the mall. However, for REALLY good shopping, check out Milwaukee's malls. There are quite a few! Also, to the south is Chicago, and on the way there is Gernie Mills, IL...this mall is GREAT! It has an ice rink inside and is only a short drive from Six Flags Great America. (Only about a 20 min. drive south of Kenosha). There are also many different choice in Kenosha for grocery shopping.

Child Care/Schools~
Look up Child Care facilities in the area. There are a lot, and I'm not sure who's good and who's not. For babysitters or nannies, contact University of Wisconsin-Parkside and they'll post an ad in the career center. There are a few good schools in Kenosha, especially if you can afford private schools.

Adult Schools~
University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Carol College

Fun Activities~
21 and over will enjoy the bar scene. Under 21, I hope you like the outdoors, because you won't find much besides shopping.
Wisconsin has a lot of cool things to go see and do, but you'll have to drive a bit to get to most places. If you are into hunting/fishing/outdoors, you'll be in heaven. Don't be afraid if you're not...as I said, there's plenty of shopping, pampering spas, Theme parks, tourists traps, and historical sites to check out. Ask around.

Additional Info~
You'll either love Wisconsin or hate it. Not much in between. Some people will never leave and others can't wait to get out, so take everything in and decide for yourself!
