Weather~
We have 2 seasons: raining and not raining! Summer is usually 70~75 degrees with the nights getting 50ish. The rain season is Nov~March, and the temperature is 40~60 but some days reaching 70's. We have morning fog, but it burns off by 9 am.
Military facilities~
Tracen in Petaluma or Travis AFB
Medical~
For military personnel, medical is at Tracen in Petaluma. Family medical is civilian Tricare approved doctors.
Housing~
38-units of housing in Point Reyes Station. Housing is also available at Hamilton in Novato.
Shopping~
Must drive to either Novato or Petaluma. It's approximately 30 minutes to each city. Wal-Mart is approximately 45 minutes away.
Child Care/Schools~
Inverness School hosts kindergarten ~ 1. West Marin Elementary School hosts 2-8. High Schoolers are bussed approximately 30 minutes to Tomales High School. There is a childcare center, but the child must be 18 months or older and must be potty trained.
Adult Schools~
Novato or Petaluma
Fun Activities~
Beaches, the famous Point Reyes Lighthouse, whale watching, birding, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing and surfing!
Additional Info~
Point Reyes is very remote and the population is only 350 people. The scenery is gorgeous if you like the beaches. San Francisco is less than an hour's drive away.
