Station/Boat Location~
Air Station Clearwater

Date there~
spring 2003-spring 2005

Weather~
If you like lots of sunshine you will love it here, except hurricane season. November through april it varies from 40-80 degrees and very sunny. The summer is very, very hot. Our only summer there we had to deal with 4 major hurricanes. Try not to move into low lying area or you have to evacuate due to possible flooding.

Military facilities~
Small exchange at airstaion. MacDill airforce base is about 45 min. drive from clearwater. They have large exchange and commissary.

Medical~
Plenty of tricare prime providers in area. Found a great pediatrician in clearwater, Dr. Pai. Also found a great obgyn in clearwater, Dr. Pallilo. The hospital he delivers out of was also great.

Housing~
No military housing available. Plenty of apartments and townhouses. Most rental housing is very pet friendly. Reasonable houses for sale if you are willing to commute at least 40 minutes. Look either north of clearwater or east of tampa.

Shopping~
plenty of shopping in area. Countryside mall is very nice, and has a skating rink in mall right next to starbucks. International plaza by tampa international airport is very nice with higher end shopping and great dining. Includes Neiman marcus, gymboree, baby gap ect.

Adult Schools~
Several universities in area.

Fun Activities~
Many great beaches, state parks, and playgrounds. 2 hours from orlando. Definitely visit honeymoon island state park and tarpon springs sponge docks.

Additional Info~
We really loved the weather and the sunshine especially. The hurricane season was very stressful however. I found the summer heat almost unbearable but I was pregnant the entire summer. Loved hanging out at beaches, and apartments pool. Overall we enjoyed it alot.
