Weather~
The weather here is very moderate. Rarely reaching the 90's and after 1 mild winter no snow. Most homes and apartments don't have AC as there is generally no need. There are fireplaces everywhere but housing.
Military facilities~
The group has a clinic for AD and retirees. There is a CG Exchange that offers most items except meat and produce. Also offers clothing, furniture and limited electronics.
Medical~
Since we so far from the nearest MTF we fall under Tricare Remote. We have 3 hospitals within 30 minutes drive and numerous family practitioners, dentists and pediatricians.
Housing~
The housing here is amazing. I know some say the 2 bedrooms are very small, but only if you have dependents. My husband and I live in a two bedroom and don't feel all that crowded. Rentals in town are available though prices vary.
Shopping~
For those coming from bigger towns shopping here is a bit of a disappointment. Our largest retailer is Fred Myers. Though we do have an outlet mall in Seaside and numerous malls and wal-marts within an hour and a half radius.
Adult Schools~
Locally we have Clatsop Community College which offers limited night and online classes. LongView (an hour away) also has a community college that offers a wider variety of classes and programs.
Fun Activities~
There are 2 first run theaters and 1 discount theater. Outdoor activities abound. Also available is a spouses association that meets regularly to boost morale and have a good time together.
