:: Erie, PA - MackB
Station/Boat Location~
Station Erie

Date there~
June 04 - July 05

Weather~
Very nice summers, not to hot. Great fall, beautiful foliage. Spring takes a while to warm up. Winter is pretty bad. A LOT of lake effect snow and wind. This winter there was about 110 inches of snow. And that is the norm!

Military facilities~
NONE

Medical~
All civilian doctors. A few in town take Tricare. Dr.Bradley Fox is a General Practitioner who excepts Tricare but I would NOT recommend him. Dr. Susan Moore is a great Pediatrician. She is with Liberty Family right by the airport.

Housing~
None. There are some really nice housing complexes in Millcreek. We live there and really think it is the best part of Erie, a little more expensive but worth it

Shopping~
Millcreek Mall is really nice and has almost everything you could need. Peach Street has all your major chain stores. Great outlets about 45 minutes south of here called Prime Outlets. Everything is extremely close and easy to get to.

Adult Schools~
Many two and four year colleges. Mercyhurst, Gannon, Edinboro, Penn State Behrend, and many technical schools. Also a beauty academy downtown.

Fun Activities~
Several! But most only in the summer. The beaches in Presque Isle State Park are beautiful. There's the zoo, museums, Waldermeer Amusement Park and Water World, several playgrounds, boating, and Erie is a close drive to many ski resorts.

Additional Info~
My husband and I thought Erie was the perfect city IN THE SUMMER!! But once winter comes prepare for a long couple of months in house. If you don't mind lots of snow you would probably love it!
