:: Brownsville, TX - sunnyscgirl
Station/Boat Location~
MSO Brownsville

Date there~
06/2005 - present

Weather~
Hot and sunny. Average temperature during the summer is 98. I haven't been through a winter yet but everyone tells me that the average temp is about 70 in the winter.

Military facilities~
None. There is a CG station on the Island and a small MSO in Brownsville.

Medical~
Everything is civilian here.

Housing~
No housing provided. I wouldn't recommend living in Brownsville. My husband and I live in Laguna Vista, it is still hot but b/c we're close to the ocean there is always a steady breeze. It is at least 10-15 degrees cooler b/c of the breeze in Laguna Vista/Port Isabel than in Brownsville. There isn't much nice housing in Brownsville either.

Shopping~
Besides tourist shops and Wal-Mart you have to drive into Brownsville from where we live to shop. They have an Old Navy, Marshall's, Ross and a decent Mall.

Adult Schools~
University of Texas at Brownsville, and there is also a community college in Brownsville.

Fun Activities~
There is the beach, which we love. There are a lot of places to take you fishing and dolphin watching for cheap prices. There is also Schlitterbahn (a water park).

Additional Info~
So, my dh and I have been to Alexandria, VA and here. We love this so much more, but we are beach people. The mosquitos can get pretty bad in the mornings and evenings.
